Project Overview
We recently carried out a vehicle conversion project for British Airways - utilising our Bott system. This converted Ford Ranger has been playing a vital role in maintaining aircraft operations.
The Brief
British Airways Newcastle needed a fast-response support vehicle to assist with ground operations, particularly when pressurisation or technical issues arise with aircraft on the runway. The vehicle had to be equipped to support maintenance tasks quickly and efficiently, reducing aircraft downtime and minimising passenger disruption.
The Conversion
We converted a Ford Ranger into a fully functional airside support unit using the industry-leading Bott racking systems. This robust setup allows for highly organised storage of specialist tools and components, ensuring engineers have everything they need at their fingertips.
To further enhance functionality, we included custom fit-outs that support on-site diagnostics and minor repairs. The vehicle was also adapted to meet airside operational standards, with durable finishes and accessible layouts designed for high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
The Result
The newly converted Ranger is now active on the tarmac at Newcastle Airport, supporting British Airways ground crews in resolving aircraft issues. The vehicle recently assisted a plane on the runway, helping engineers deliver a quick resolution to a cabin pressurisation fault. Allowing the flight to resume with minimal delay for passengers.
